Before Sunrise (2021–2022) emerged as a space of familiarity for Mala after her arrival in Milan in 2021. As she navigated the city, questions of identity and race became more pronounced, sharpening her awareness to microaggressions. The club venue became a weekly gathering point for people of color, offering a rare environment defined by inclusion rather than exclusion.
