ABOUT

Anastacia Mala (b. 2002, Kuala Lumpur) is a Malaysian-Norwegian visual artist and photographer based in Paris with over four years of experience across photography, curation and project management. Anastacia attended a BFA in photography and visual arts at IED, Milano where she began to combine traditional photography with other mediums to further deepen the conceptual level of her work. Her practice explores identity and cultural belonging, often reflecting the intersection of her dual heritage through both politically and aesthetically layered imagery. Alongside her personal work, she brings Asian perspectives into fashion and fine art photography, addressing underrepresentation in predominantly white industries. Mala is also engaged in curatorial and research-driven initiatives, creating physical and digital platforms that support Southeast Asian creatives in Europe and foster community among the diaspora.

Mala has been part of several group exhibitions in Oslo such as “mellom rom” at Henie Onstad and “Take it off” at Kunsthall Oslo. In 2024 she participated in her first group exhibition in Milan, “Recollections in Tranquillity” at Linke Gallery. In addition to being exhibited in Europe, she participated in her first group exhibition in Asia in March 2025, titled "PhotOpsia, Flickering Objects" at 100 Tonson Foundation.
